First Type II Non-Com­bustible, Net-Zero Home in the U.S. This home was designed, built and com­plet­ed in less than 21 months with the same cost as a tra­di­tion­al build.

The design­ers and con­struc­tion team were charged with cre­at­ing a sus­tain­able 7,500 sq. ft. mod­ern estate atop a stun­ning hill over­look­ing ranch­es and vine­yards in Mur­ri­eta, Cal­i­for­nia.

Con­struc­tion of a shear wall includes mate­ri­als and design that enhance a structure’s stiff­ness, strength, and duc­til­i­ty in order to with­stand lat­er­al forces from severe winds and earth­quakes.

In order to max­i­mize the avail­able project foot­print and achieve the beau­ti­ful mediter­ranean-inspired look, the design required com­plex, tight-radius cor­ners and open­ings.

The for­ward-think­ing police depart­ment in Saugeen Shores want­ed a bul­let- proof, state-of-the-art sta­tion. The design was devel­oped with expan­sion in mind so the head­quar­ters can grow with the neigh­bor­hoods that the depart­ment serves.

The con­trac­tor need­ed a build­ing solu­tion that would pro­vide a sus­tain­able devel­op­ment that would stim­u­late the local econ­o­my and pre­serve the his­toric feel of the com­mu­ni­ty. In addi­tion to the envi­ron­men­tal con­sid­er­a­tions, the com­mit­ment to pri­vate, ener­gy effi­cient units was a sell­ing point of build­ing with Fox Blocks ICF.
