We face envi­ron­men­tal pol­lu­tion every day we step out­side our door.

A 150-year-old grain­ery build­ing was trans­formed into a restau­rant and micro­brew­ery in Ontario by a cou­ple look­ing to revi­tal­ize their com­mu­ni­ty and join the up-and-com­ing craft beer mar­ket.

The chal­lenge for this build was to cre­ate a home that would appeal to a sophis­ti­cat­ed buy­er with fea­tures that an emp­ty nester mov­ing from a larg­er more expan­sive home would enjoy. The result is an ener­gy effi­cient home which cre­ative­ly uses space in an attrac­tive, lux­u­ri­ous, and cost effec­tive way.

While it’s great news that we’re not cur­rent­ly using more ener­gy to run our homes, the study also ​“rais­es impor­tant con­cerns about mak­ing home ener­gy use more effi­cient.” If American’s time at home con­tin­ues to rise, home effi­cien­cy will need to as well.
