Laying the Groundwork: Steps for Building a Solid Foundation for a Small House
In this article, we will explore how to build a foundation for a small house using insulated concrete forms (ICFs) and discuss the advantages of choosing this modern construction method.

Community and Charity Bring Kayden a Special Backyard Oasis. Kayden’s Place is a water feature, pool and playground that provides Kayden, a 12-year-old boy with a very rare genetic disease, with a backyard adventure that contributes to his sensory and cognitive development.
Does the EPS provide support for a wood sill plate?
No, the EPS has no structural capacity to support any loads. Wood sill plates must achieve the required bearing from the concrete within the ICF. A wood plate that cantilevers 13 over the EPS and bears 23 on the concrete is allowable. This can be done with a minimum 2 x 6 plate. If a 24 plate is required, a taper top form should be used to extend the concrete under the plate.

Fiberglass Rebar vs. Steel Rebar: A Comprehensive Comparison
Reinforcing concrete with the right material can shape the success of any construction project. The debate surrounding fiberglass rebar vs steel rebar significantly impacts a structure’s performance, durability, and long-term costs.

Are ICF Blocks Toxic? Everything You Need to Know
Insulated Concrete Forms (ICFs) are becoming a popular choice in modern construction due to their energy efficiency and structural durability. A common question among builders and homeowners is whether ICF blocks are toxic.
